About College Cost Transparency
At Northampton Community College (NCC), we strive to uphold the highest standards of transparency and communication. We are committed to keeping students fully informed about the costs associated with their education and resources to help them navigate their financial responsibilities. We adhere to the Pennsylvania Act 69 of 2024, to ensure that our financial aid practices are in line with legal requirements.
Below, students will find helpful information, definitions, and connections to important resources regarding financial aid and other campus resources.
What do the following financial categories mean?
- Financial Aid Offer: A financial aid offer is a document that details the financial aid a student is eligible to receive from a college. The offer includes financial aid from federal, state, private, and school resources and information about the cost of attendance.
- Cost of Attendance for the Current and Previous Years: The Cost of Attendance consists of the sum of educational costs paid to the school (also referred to as direct or billable costs) and costs paid to others (or indirect, non-billable or discretionary). The Cost of Attendance budget includes estimated costs such as books and supplies, living expenses, loan fees, transportation and miscellaneous and personal expenses, and well as NCC’s tuition and fees. The Cost of Attendance represents the highest dollar amount of financial aid a student can receive during an enrollment period.
- Tuition and Fees: The price students pay per credit (for part-time students) or as a flat rate (for full-time students) to enroll in courses at NCC.
- Additional fees may apply to certain courses: some classes, such as labs, have additional fees to help cover the expense of equipment.
- Estimated Budget for Books and supplies: if students have extra financial aid, they can use some of it to buy course materials at NCC’s bookstore or elsewhere.
- Costs for Living On-Campus
- Net Cost of Attendance Price Calculator: This is a tool that will allow current and prospective students and parents to get a net price of attending an institution.
- Student employment: Also known as federal work-study, provides an excellent way for students to earn money while attending school, providing them with valuable work experience and financial support.
- Financial Aid Renewal: how to keep your financial aid from semester to semester and year to year.
