Clear Path Scholarship

Thanks to funding provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Clear Path program was created to support the timely completion of STEM associate and STEM bachelor’s degrees from community college partners to ESU and financial support to do so.

 

In addition to scholarships, the Clear Path grant supports students with proactive developmental advocacy, holistic advising, cohort activities, peer mentoring and tutoring, and mentor-mediated online education that fosters the development of traits associated with academic success.

 

While attending NCC, students can major in whichever subject they choose; however, to be eligible for an ESU scholarship, students must major in one of the following subjects:

  • Biotechnology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Security
  • Environmental Studies
  • Marine Science
  • Mathematics
  • Physics

Student Spotlights

"After graduating ESU with a B.S. in computer security, I received a full-time offer with UPS in their information security department. There I worked on their forward facing customer assurance team to ensure all of our security controls and policies were well known to the people we did business with. Afterwards, I accepted my current computer engineering job with the Future Army Command at Picatinny Arsenal. A lot of my work revolves around the Risk Management Framework policies and procedures. In the future, I hope to continue my studies in the cyber field and would eventually love to learn about digital forensics. I still carry all of the lessons I've learned from Clear Path and ESU on a daily basis. Can't wait to see what the future holds for the Clear Path program!"

"My name is Alexandra Gallagher, and I graduated from ESU with my BS in Environmental Studies and a minor in Political Science in 2019. I took a gap year between completing my undergraduate degree to teach as an adjunct biology instructor at Lehigh Carbon Community College, which is where I went before being accepted to the Clear Path Program. I am currently finishing my second semester as a graduate student at Lehigh University, completing my Master's in Environmental Law & Policy. I also work as a graduate fellow with the Offices of Real Estate & Sustainability to research, design, and propose sustainable initiatives for campus development. I'll be completing my graduate degree in August 2022. I also recently got engaged to my fellow Clear Path scholar, Walter Espinoza Paz, who also worked as an adjunct instructor at LCCC. Clear Path was an integral part of my college career, and I could not be more grateful to have participated in the program. A huge thank you goes out to all of the Clear Path team for all they did to help me and my fellow scholars during our time with them!"

"I am Christian Legath and I graduated with dual degrees in Biotechnology and Business Management. I work for Sanofi Pasteur, and will be coming back to site tomorrow for a job fair to represent the company. At Sanofi, I work in Quality Validation. My job is to make sure all new or changes to equipment or processes stay in our validated settings. With my job there is opportunity to travel to inspect new equipment, work cross-functionally as well as growth in my position. I would be delighted to come and speak to the clear path students or to a class at any time. Thank you again for the opportunity to be in Clear Path, for it has helped me significantly in my life today."

"After graduating, I received a full time scholarship to attend Jacksonville University for my Masters in Marine Sciences. I am expected to graduate Fall of 2022 with an MA in Marine Sciences. When I first moved down here I worked at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens as an Education Guide. After over a year of working there I have landed a job at the Museum of Science and History where I am currently a full time Naturalist. I take care of all live collection. I also attend to special projects and education programs. MOSH (museum of Science and History) will be expanding in the next 4 years. As the new building begins to open, I have been put in charge of Rehabilitation and Restoration of marine habitats that will attracted manatees back into the St. John's River."
