Scam Alert: Job Offers & Financial Aid
NCC students, faculty, and staff are being targeted by scam emails and text messages related to fake jobs and financial aid. Stay alert and protect your personal information.
Be cautious if a message:
- Offers a job without a real interview, or sounds too good to be true
- Uses only text or email to “interview”
- Claims to be from NCC but uses a non-NCC email
- Asks for banking info, SSN, or payments
- Sends a check and asks you to send money back
All legitimate NCC student jobs are posted through Handshake or verified college channels. NCC will never:
- Ask for banking or personal information by text or email
- Hire students without a formal process
- Interview through messaging apps
When in doubt:
- Do not respond or click links
- Do not share information or send money
- Report suspicious messages immediately
